Job Description:

Assist the Executive Vice President for External Affairs in communications with all UC External Affairs Representatives, UC Regents, selected members of the California Legislature, US Congress, and other necessary persons

Serve as an alternate board member to the University of California Student Association Board if the Executive Vice President for External Affairs, Campus Organizing Directors, Legislative Directors, or Director of Staff cannot attend.

Serve as the pinpoint person for the Head Communications Officer and the Communications Director of the UCSA.

Be responsible for the creation of digital, video, and print content for the Office of External Affairs. Including, but not limited to, managing our social media, outreach efforts, and any form of communication used by the office.

Shall set up reservations and fill out TSS and reservations for office events.

Set at least bi-monthly tabling, or as directed by the Executive Vice President for External Affairs, and send out our bi-weekly newsletter and weekly recap posts.

Shall be responsible for outreach to external on-campus organizations, including but not limited to, college councils, student organizations, cultural organizations, advocacy organizations, etc.

Shall constantly be up-to-date with UCSD, ASUCSD, UCSA, and USSA issues.

Shall assist and communicate with the Director of Staff and coordinate the promotion of office events

Student employees shall assist the Director of Staff and Executive Vice President for External Affairs on their responsibilities.

Oversee Administrative Aids of the Office with the help of the Executive Vice President for External Affairs and the Director of Staff

Take on any additional responsibilities as directed by the Executive Vice President for External Affairs

Qualifications:

You must plan to be a full-time registered student at UC San Diego for the 2026 - 2027 academic year and be available on campus.

Have proficiency to advance on Canva

Have advanced communication skills
-
Experience planning large people trips and understanding of University travel policy.

The ability to lead and supervise a group of staff members
-
Problem-solving and conflict-management skills
-
Programming experience and understanding of campus EMS and TSS systems
