Welcome to KSDT Radio. We are an independent student-run online radio station and recording studio at UCSD. With hundreds of members, we believe in sharing diverse tastes in music and unique perspectives. We strive to promote and record independent music, and to serve our music community at UCSD.
As the Computer Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the Radio.co audio stream configurations, assisting with broadcast needs such as through Twitch integrations; OBS automation, scene, and computer backup configuration; maintaining and updating our website to the standards and request of fellow staff members; managing a Vercel deployment and Sanity Studio project, creating and deploying web applications to assist our staff and members’ various needs; and navigating a headless server to configure scripts, cronjobs, and other processes. You will also be responsible for the solder station/workbench, fixing wire connections or other electronics as needed by the audio engineers, DJs, or other members of the community. This includes updating the station's wiring for high fidelity, low noise floor audio recording for local bands.
Additionally, the Computer Engineer has the opportunity to lead a team of interns, chosen by you through an application process, that develop applications that are tailored for the needs of KSDT staff and its community members. Projects and their direction are at your discretion, but the aim of this position is to improve the member experience and the quality of applications at KSDT. This may include running classes on web development, Linux maintenance, and backend development.

- Tech savvy, including (but not limited to)
- Knowing how to use the bash (or other shell) command line, understanding the directory structure in a Linux based environment (eg /var/www/, ~/, /etc/), familiarity with configuring Linux machines
- Having previously deployed web services, such as through Vercel or your own web server.
- Understanding CSS, HTML, and JS integration and have used web frameworks such as Next.js.
- Having previously used audio connection interfaces.
- Knowing electrical engineering concepts, including knowing how to solder XLR and 1/4" connectors onto balanced or unbalanced audio cable, using a multimeter, and designing circuits.
This role requires 5-10 hours of commitment per week. Mandatory hours are spent attending staff meetings, leading intern meetings, hosting office hours, and repairing station equipment.
This role is a year-long, paid stipend position.
