Finance Department Overview

The Finance Department serves as the central body responsible for managing the organisation’s overall financial operations and resource allocation. It leads the development and execution of the annual budget, ensures funds are distributed in a fair and strategic manner, and monitors spending across all offices throughout the year. The department also oversees student organisations and enterprise and services, making sure they are financially supported and are operating efficiently.

Position Description

As Chief Financial Officer, your role is to make sure the organisation’s money is used in the most responsible and effective way possible. The CFO oversees the budget process, works closely with different offices to understand their needs, and allocates funds based on the financial situation every year. A big part of what the CFO does is looking at past spending, tracking current usage, and using that to make better decisions for the future. They also act as a link between leadership, Senate, and all VPs, making sure everything is transparent and that people understand where money is going and why. Beyond just numbers, the role is about building systems that make budgeting smoother, holding offices accountable, and making sure we are setting up the organisation to be financially stable long term.

Key Information

Pay rate: $250 per week

Hours Per Week: 12+

Job Location: In-Person (UCSD Main Campus) and Off-Site work

Responsibilities: 

  • Strong financial understanding is essential.

  • Attention to detail is critical, especially for data entry and maintaining accuracy in financial records.

  • Transparency and clear communication are also important, as the role involves working with multiple stakeholders and ensuring everyone understands financial decisions. 

  • Skills in cost analysis and budget forecasting help in planning effectively and making sustainable financial choices.

Required Qualification:

  • Must be a UC San Diego Undergraduate Student and available to work on campus.

Position is Stipended
