Fund The UC Campaign Description: Fund The UC focuses on ensuring affordability, quality, and access to the University of California by eliminating all tuition and fees, restoring per-student funding to adequate levels, and maintaining financial aid for the cost of living and other costs of attendance. Through identifying and securing dedicated progressive taxation revenue streams for the University of California we will achieve the original intent in the California Master Plan for Higher Education of an equitable higher education system for all.

ACQUIRE Campaign Description: AQUIRE was founded based on the reality that academic success depends on the availability of holistic resources and protections. Some of these resources and protections may include, but are not limited to: safety from interpersonal violence, sexual violence, and hate crimes; retention services; mental and physical health services; academic accommodations; and support for basic needs.

  • AQUIRE: Afford To Stay, Not Just Pay

Job Description: 

  • Communicating with UCSA Fund the UC campaign Vice Chair regularly & accomplish all assigned campaign tasks. (Responsibilities and times may vary)
  • Keep track of commitments made during meetings and follow up with folks who made commitments.
  • Maintain regular contact with the External Organizing Director and have open communication regarding boundaries and responsibilities.
  • Shall work with campus organizations to develop coalitions and solidarity efforts with campus organizations
  • Attend bi-weekly all staff meetings with the other staff members within the Office of External Affairs.
  • Fulfill  additional UCSA campaign work: may include, but is not limited to attending rally planning, organizing travel arrangements, writing Op-eds, tabling, facilitating meetings, organizing teach-ins/webinars/phone-banking events, stepping in for campaign coordinators, meeting with different on-campus and off-campus organizations, and other organizing work
  • Shall take on additional responsibilities as requested by the Vice President of External Affairs and External Organizing Director

Job Location: 

In-Person (UCSD Main Campus)

Qualifications: 

  • Having an understanding of or experience with the financial aid system
  • Understand how legislation at the state and federal level impact financial aid for UC students
  • Community Organizing and Advocacy Experience
  • Community Engagement Experience

Hours per week: 5-10 hours/week

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • You must plan to be a full-time registered student at UC San Diego for the 2025 - 2026academic year and be available on campus.
