- Director of Strategic Initiatives & Innovation
The Director of Strategic Initiatives & Innovation will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Enterprises and Services (AVP) and will play a key role in researching, developing, and launching new ventures and initiatives that align with the mission and goals of the organization. This individual will work closely with the AVP and other enterprise leaders to explore innovative business ideas that meet the evolving needs of the UC San Diego student population while generating revenue for the Associated Students.
This position is ideal for students who are entrepreneurial, creative, and forward-thinking, and who are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of student-led enterprises at UC San Diego.
Responsibilities:
Assist the AVP in identifying, researching, and developing new student-run businesses and service initiatives.
Collaborate with existing enterprise and service leaders to integrate innovation into current operations where applicable.
Conduct feasibility studies, market research, and financial projections to evaluate the viability of proposed initiatives.
Provide recommendations to the AVP on potential opportunities for expansion, partnerships, or development.
Work with key stakeholders to pilot or launch new services, ensuring alignment with student needs and organizational goals.
Maintain detailed records and documentation on the progress of initiatives, including timelines, budgets, and outcomes.
Coordinate with the marketing and communications teams to promote new initiatives to the campus community.
Serve as a resource and consultant for other members of the Enterprises and Services team looking to explore innovative ideas.
Requirements:
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, innovation, entrepreneurship, design, or a related field.
Demonstrated interest in startups, social impact, or business development.
Experience in project management, product development, or strategic planning is preferred.
Strong critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through from ideation to execution.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of the UC San Diego student body and a passion for creating services that support and uplift the student experience.
Compensation: $60/week stipend
