Associated Students: Mission & Purpose 

The object of this Association shall be to exercise the rights and responsibilities of students to participate in the governance of the University; to manage, invest and maintain the assets of the Association; to create and execute programs which serve the collective interests of the undergraduate population; and to advocate for students within the University, the community, the state, and the nation.

The Office of Health & Well-Being

  1. The Office of Health & Well-Being  shall strive create a happier and healthier campus community through advocacy, initiatives, and programs; Raise awareness and use of student health resources at UC San Diego; Collect feedback on all student health resources and work to adapt the campus community to reflect the current needs of students; and educate and advocate for holistic student health, which includes, but is not limited to, a focus on: 

    1.  UC insurance plans and waivers 

    2. Student health services 

    3. Sexual assault and gender-based violence 

    4. Mental, spiritual, and emotional health 

    5. Drug and alcohol awareness, education, and outreach 

    6. Physical, nutritional, and dietary health 

    7. Social and interpersonal connection 

    8. Disability justice and accommodations 

    9. Occupational, environmental, financial, intellectual, and other forms of health and well-being.

  2. The Associate Vice President of Health & Well-Being, in addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Constitution, shall: 

    1. Actively collaborate and communicate with health entities, including, but not limited to: 

      1. CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) 

      2. Clinical and Psychological Services (CAPS) 

      3. Health Promotion Services (HPS) 

      4. Student Health Services (SHS) 

      5. Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD) 

      6.  The Zone 

    2. Organize and develop accurate and accessible programs, workshops, reports, initiatives, and other such projects with the purpose of promoting holistic health and well-being. 

    3. Serve, or appoint a staff member of the office to serve, as the primary Association representative on the: 

      1.  Student Health & Well-Being Advisory Board (SHWAB) 

      2.  UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) Committee 

      3. Student Mental Health Advisory Committee (SMHAC) 

  3. The office staff composition for the Office of Health and Well-Being shall be at the discretion of the Associate Vice President of Health and Well-Being, but may include Directors and Advocates to promote and engage with specialized sections of health and well-being, including student health, mental health, sexual health, and additional dimensions of health and well-being deemed necessary.
