The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage students to grow and develop through their involvement in student government, its services, and auxiliaries. We promote student engagement in all areas of campus life through leadership, advocacy, and service in order to build and strengthen our community.

There are currently two Transfers Senators in the ASUCSD. One is elected (Jennifer Ruiz), and the other transfer senator is appointed. The Transfer Senator position is a voting member of the ASUCSD Senate. The purpose of the Transfer Senator is to represent the interests and concerns of all transfer students on the Senate floor. The Transfer Senators strive to increase awareness of important issues in the transfer community through at least two projects throughout the school year, however in this case you would only have to do one project in the spring quarter. This includes, but is not limited to, food giveaways, conducting surveys, working on improving campus-wide events and services (Welcome Week, Academic help, On-Campus Housing life), etc. Each Transfer Senator is required to attend all ASUCSD Senate Meetings every Wednesday afternoon/evening and to be assigned to one or two committees. These meetings start from 4PM on even-numbered weeks and 5PM on every other week.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the interests and concerns of transfer students

  • Attend all Associated Students Senate Meetings on [Wednesday from 6:00 pm to end]

  • Attend all Associated Students Joint Meetings [Wednesdays]

  • Sit on one Associated Students Internal Committee [Wednesdays]

  • Build and maintain relationships and student representatives of the Transfer Student Body

  • Increase awareness of important issues in their constituency

  • Complete a minimum of two projects during their term that benefit the transfer student body

  • Complete tasks as assigned to Senators by the Executive Vice President 

One Transfer Senator will be appointed for the 2024-2025 academic year. You will be contacted for an interview for the position once the application period has closed.
