About Associated Students

The Associated Students of the University of California, San Diego are the elected and appointed representatives of the UC San Diego student body. The ASUCSD works to promote student engagement through its services and leadership opportunities. The ASUCSD seeks to foster a cohesive community through active interaction and communication with students, the administration, and the greater San Diego Community. What is the Office of Academic Affairs?

The Associated Students Office of Academic Affairs strives to work alongside students to better their academic experiences at UC San Diego. This includes, but is not limited to, representing the student body in Academic Senate and their respective committees, creating projects and events centered around student’s academic needs, and being a resource to link students to their academic divisions.

  1. Director of Retention Role and Responsibilities

The Director of Retention serves as a counsel to the VP Academic Affairs. They will serve as the main contact for all staff members as well as assist the VPAA in all academic retention efforts.

These include:

  • Work closely with SPACES and OASIS as well as Community Resource Centers

  • Ensure representation for Academic Success Program (ASP) meetings

  • Manage Mentor/mentee program

  • Assist SPACES Access Coordinator with High School Conference as needed

  • Plan academic retention activities, such as study jams, - at least once a quarter

  • Program reports and data entry to consistently track and evaluate the effectiveness of all activities/events

  • Create programming and events on time management and career choices
