- Chief of Staff
The Office of Environmental Justice Affairs seeks to raise awareness and promote action towards addressing the intersections of environmental and social justice within the student body. We focus on inherent elements of environmental and social sustainability in council decisions and at the university. The office collaborates with the Student Sustainability Collective, faculty, admin, various campus organizations, and local environmental groups to shed light on the issues most important to students through events, discussion panels, case studies, and more. It is expected that staff members will contribute additional knowledge and foresight on matters regarding sustainability, and will hence have a direct positive effect on the impact ASUCSD has on campus, around San Diego, and in the international community.
Establish a culture of interdisciplinary environmental awareness
Increase collaboration with other campus sustainability entities to achieve similar goals
Advocate for the Associated Students to lead by example in sustainability efforts
Raise conversations and awareness of the intersections between environmental and social justice
Advocate for sustainable spaces on campus to be equitable and accessible to all students
Raise awareness of gardens at UC San Diego
Host impactful and intentional events for the student body
The Chief of Staff:
Shall assist the AVP of Environmental Justice Affairs in overseeing the office and its operations.
Shall assist the AVP of Environmental Justice Affairs in all of their duties.
Shall be responsible for the oversight of programming efforts, setting meetings, and representing AVP EJA in various entities if needed.
Shall work with the AVP EJA to handle budgets and any other financial matters
Shall assist the AVP EJA in managing staff and maintaining communication with other AS, on-campus, and off-campus spaces and organizations.
