As part of the APDC (Academic and Professional Development) committee, the Professional Development Coordinator (PDC) serves all graduate and postdoctoral students with their career observations and helps students to be prepared for their job-searching process. The VP Academic appoints this position.
The PDC will be responsible for:
- Plan and host quarterly grAdvantage Career Nights, consisting of selecting guest speakers and planning workshops.
- Attend grAdvantage Committee meetings.
- Act as a liaison with GEPA with respect to professional development resources.
- Act as liaison with Alumni Association and UCSD Career Center.
- Assist the Vice President of Academic Affairs in planning and putting on the GPSAUCSD awards event; Interdisciplinary Research Awards.
- Serve as ex officio on the Academic and Professional Development Committee
- Work with the VP Academic each quarter to produce their Executive Officer Report about events held, key meetings attended, and a summary of expenditures.
The APDC Chair will work closely with VP Academic and may be asked to attend GPSA Council or Executive Meetings as needed.
Total compensation: $2,000/year
